Get ready for a long weekend of rhythm and good music in the magnificent setting of one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
Our Hotel & Residence Ai Pozzi Village is in Loano, just 20 km from Laigueglia. You still have time to book your holiday and not miss this special music event, whether you are already a jazz fan or just curious to find out more about it.
What is the Percfest
The music event, which has become known in Europe, was born in 1996 thanks to the creativity of Rosario Bonaccorso, internationally renowned jazz bass player, who has been the art direction and organization for 26 years.
The event calendar includes two concerts in the evening, including Thursday to Sunday, for a total of eight performances by great artists of the contemporary jazz music scene.
At the same time there will also be the Memorial Naco, dedicated to Giuseppe Bonaccorso in art Naco, great master of Italian percussion but also jazz player, who has collaborated in the creation of records by artists such as Fabio Concato, Fabrizio De André, Ivano Fossati, Vinicio Capossela and many others.
The Memorial dedicated to him includes Master Classes, courses and seminars to bring adults and children closer to the world of music.
Percfest 2019, the program
From Thursday 13th to Sunday 16th June in Laigueglia the musical kermess for jazz and percussion lovers will start. Let’s see which artists will perform in the evening concerts and which courses are scheduled for the afternoon hours.
Thursday, June 13 at 9.30 pm to officially open the event will be the Guilhem Flouzat Trio with Sullivan Fortner & Desmond White, three musicians arriving from New Orleans, Paris and Melbourne. The three met at the Manhattan School of Music in New York and since then they have created a happy artistic partnership.
It continues at 10.30 pm with Dedè Ceccarelli Sextet who with Walter Ricci, Rosario Giuliani, Julian Oliver Mazzariello and Diego Imbert, Francoise Costantin proposes a reinterpretation of the timeless musical West Side Story.
Friday, June 14 at 9.30 pm will be the turn of Dado Moroni and Danny Grissett. The first is Italian and has spent the last 30 years in the United States, the second has African and American origins but has chosen to live in Europe; to combine the passion for jazz. They will perform in a piano duet.
At 22.30 it is the turn of Toninho Horta & Rudi Berger. Horta is a Brazilian guitarist and composer, while Berger is a Viennese violinist and together, they played at hundreds of concerts.
Saturday, June 15th at 9.30pm it’s up to Julian Oliver Mazzariello Trio with the participation of Dedè Ceccarelli. The pianist Mazzariello can boast numerous collaborations with the likes of Lucio Dalla, Edoardo De Crescenzo, Fabio Concato and Fiorella Mannoia.
Afterwards at 10:30 pm the Rosary Bonaccorso New Quintet will perform with the participation of Stefano Di Battista. The quintet features Bonaccorso on double bass, Stefano di Battista soprano and alto sax, Fulvio Sigurtà with trumpet and flugelhorn, Enrico Zanisi on piano and Alessandro Paternesi on drums. Together they will play some of the songs on the new Bonaccorso CD, A New Home.
Given the small capacity of Piazza Marconi, the designated venue for the concerts, and the large turnout at the event, this year there is a small fee: the ticket has a low cost of € 15 and allows you to attend the two evening concerts ; alternatively tickets can be purchased online at a cheaper price: € 12.50 plus advance sale. Subscriptions are also on sale to participate in all the concerts of the four evenings at a cost of € 50.
Collateral events, courses, master classes and laboratories
As we have already written, one of the objectives of this event is to bring together adults and children with jazz and percussion. For this reason, various courses and workshops have been organized that will take place throughout the Percfest, from Thursday 13 to Sunday 16.
